Shoppy shoppy with the hubby

So as you can see I have found the WordPress apparently for my phone and can now blog on the road! Woowoot! It has just started snowing in Philadelphia and it has been a beautiful day to walk around…especially in my new Northface hat Husband bought me- see below. We are currently in Brooks Brothers which is why I am not getting my shop on. Husband is trying on pants.

On other news I went to the famous and much loved by most Lululemon. I dunno, I’m not yet a believer. I definitely tried on every style of pants with no luck. BUT I was very happy to see them pimping out my girl Shiya’s shanti yoga shala.

We also ran (hehe) into Philadelphia Runner so I could get a little taste; -)

Toodles for now!

Waking up Ravenous and Hula 4 Haiti in the news!

So I woke up really early for me (once at 8 am then 10 am-I know, not early for normal people) RAVENOUS. I sat in bed and drank G2 while eating some Kashi Go Lean Crunch out of the box.  Classy.  I fell back for a bit more snooze until I go bored.  Anyway, Husband is still sleeping…yes, it’s noon…and I found some fun stuff on the internet!  Look!

From the Times Herald newspaper…

Tajahana Wright, left, and fellow contestant Kyiree Morris, participate in the “Hula for Haiti” benefit at  Marshall Street Elementary School.

Fun!  So…what are your Saturday/weekend plans?  Today, I am hoping to run to Express to return/exhange some lovelies.  I also need to go to the bank to deal with the Hula for Haiti money and open a joint account with Husband.  Then, tonight we are driving into Cherry Hill to go to the Apple store to browse laptops and then for our first visit to Seasons 52!  According to the website it is,

“A fresh approach to dining that celebrates living well”  RIGHT UP MY ALLEY!  Also,

Seasons 52 is a fresh grill and wine bar that invites guests to discover the sensational flavors of a seasonally-inspired menu and award-winning international wine list in a casually-sophisticated ambiance.

At Seasons 52, we pride ourselves on offering our guests:

  • Seasonally-inspired dining choices expertly designed to excite and surprise the palate
  • An award-winning international wine list featuring diverse wine selections that personalize the dining experience
  • Knowledgeable, approachable service that inspires confidence
  • A casually-sophisticated adult ambiance that feels inviting

I hear about this restaurant all the time on Lisa Paige’s blog and have been dying to try!  Husband finally caved and made reservations!  Wootwoot!  Expect a full review later!  Tomorrow, I hope to take a swim, do some sauna/whirlpool activities at the gym and then do a slow-cooker Sunday.  What are your plans?  Toodles!

Being a Positive Person

I shoulda said a positive person-purple people eater 😉 hehe that would have been a real alliteration!  Boy, am I a nerd!

ANYWHOO, I was reading Caitlin’s blog, Healthy Tipping Point, and on it was an interesting post/comment discussion on the power of positive thinking.  I started thinking about this, and concluded the following

I actually feel like BLOGGING HAS MADE ME A MORE POSITIVE PERSON…do you feel like that? I dunno I just feel like in writing I am able to be more objective and appreciative. Does anyone else agree?

I also feel like I get to CHOOSE what I “focus my attention on,”  when posting on my blog.   So I pose that question here for any bloggers out there-do you think blogging has made you a more positive person?  Comment!  Toodles!

“Oh, I get by with a little lunch, from my friends…”

To be sung to the tune of “help from my friends” by the Beetles.  (and NOT Linds’ beetles-aka dates) hehe.  Anyway, a very nice friend provided ME with a lil lunchy-poo today!  YUMYUM!  I definitely wanted a cold lunch.  I have been doing the hot lunch thing now for while, and I’m currently over it.

Speaking of “help from my friends,” I do want to give a shout out to some special people ,who know who they are, who have been really awesome to me lately 😉 When the going gets tough, the tough looks to friends 🙂  Thank you!  Question:  Who are YOUR TRUE friends?  What does it mean to be a true friend?  Just wonderin’… Comment!

HULA 4 HAITI- Great success!

So, I had organized a fundraiser for my school whereby students would bring in a quarters all of this week and get raffle tickets in return that would give them a chance to “hula off” against their grade level and then their whole school.  I was so excited about this, but nervous at the same time, as my school is very large and this is a huge undertaking!  But, this morning ended up working out perfectly!  As a school, we raised over ONE THOUSAND dollars!  To be precise, it was $1,136.08!  How great?!?!?  Wootwoot!  All of the money is going directly to the Red Cross. There were many media outlets there, including our neighborhood newspaper, The Times Herald, and 6ABC!

Under the Sea, A Puppy and B4D!

Haha!  Cryptic title, no?  I bet you really wanna read this now, right?  hehe

OK, so under the sea…the water experience (aka swimming) was great!  I didn’t remember how hard it is!  I haven’t swum in years-since college pretty much.   I swam for about 35 minutes.  It was a SERIOUS cardio and strength workout.  Good stuff!  By the way, my bathing suit ,cap and goggles all fit wonderfully!  So, when I got home I was VERY hangry!  So…I had B4D (Breakfast for Dinner) LOVE IT!  I had 2 Arnold Sandwich thin french toasts (made with Egg Beaters-all I had at home) and some hashbrowns.  SERIOUS yum.  I also have perfected a syrup smearing method whereby you flip the thins on top of each other with syrup poured between every OTHER one.  That part is really important or else it is too soggy.

And…The PUPPY!  yes, hard to believe the big girl is a puppy!  I have seen her grow up-literally!

love the tongue!

LOVE this pic!

OK, bye for now- watching Celeb Rehab 🙂  Toodles!

The return of shrimp stir-fry and swimming…

NOT TOGETHER…although that would be interesting, no?

So last night I made the famous (by me) shrimp stir fry.  It take 3 ingredients, cooks in 10 minutes or less and is very healthy (minus the salt).  AND if you are a vegetarian and don’t eat shrimp, sub it out for another bag of veggies.  If you don’t like shrimp, sub out for another protein.  THREE INGREDIENTS…

1. SHRIMP (I buy them cooked already and then throw them in the frying pan for more cooking becuase they do generally gross me out although I like the taste)

2.  Bird’s Eye Steamfresh Veggies, Asian Medley seasoned…micro for one minute less than what the package says because when you combine with the shrimp in the frying pan they cook more)

3.  Knorr Teriyaki Noodle sides with veggies

SOOOO easy.

1.  Cook noodles (7 minutes) while prepping the rest

2.  Throw shrimp in frying pan with a little soy sauce or whatever to taste

3.  After microwaving the veggies, thrown those in

4. Serve over the noodles 😉

YUMYUM! Shrimp stir fry!

OK, NOW…for the return of swimming!  So, I have kept with my promise and stayed away for running now for 5 days straight in hopes of allowing the stress fracture in my left shin to heal properly (and not snap in half, like my Brother in Law Kevin warned me).  I have been adding new and exciting things to my workout such as interval training on the Elliptical, and “the torture machine.”

Now, swimming will enter the picture.  When I was in college, I ahd a similar issue with my leg (ankle maybe?  I forget) that made me have to lay off exercize equipment altogether.  This combined with seeing a hot guy on the swim team :-), pushed me to learn how to swim.  I would go and watch swim practice each night and then jump in and imitate. I actually got a really good stroke going and lost a TON of weight doing so.  Besides this though, I always found the water to be so comforting, and enjoyed my little “under water world.”  I used to get a GREAT deal of think-time in and found it to be healthy and cathartic.  Anyway, I’m goin’ back in!  Just got a new tank suit to get me going, along with a new swim cap (HOT) and goggles (EVEN HOTTER).

Check out the blog for a post later on how my return the “the under water world” went!

Bye for now!  Toodles!
