Dude, LIFE is good!

PS:  Sorry this was to be posted last night, but my computer FRITZED out!

Dinner tonight with my family at the Famous Fourth Street Deli in Philly was AM-azing!  Loved it.  Really.  Sorry the Husband missed it, as he is away on work, and he will be very sorry too when he sees the picture recap (hint: yum).  OK, so as i recap I am sitting here with Oskie cuddled on my lap, drinking my FAV tea ever- Celestial’s Gingerbread (holiday flavor-can’t find it ANYWHERE-help!) and munching on my linzer tort…yumyum…

YUMYUMYUMYUM! Why are these called torts instead of TARTS? I wanna change it.

First off, speaking of yumyums, before I even get into this yumyumrecap,  look at this lovely treat that was awaiting me at my desk this afternoon!  Too cute- thank you friend 😉

That meant a lot to me.  Ok, moving on to the feast dinner recap…

So, when you walk into the Famous Fourth Street Deli you are greeted with this

…and this…

…and this…

These are my Brother in Law's FAVORITE- I am so with him on this!

So, it is pretty obvious that the meal will NOT be lite/light fare 😉  But boy was it redonk!  First get a load of these pickles. O.M.G.  Pickles are my thing.  Big time.

Mouth is currently watering.

Yes, that is pickle dripping down my face. That's how I like it.

WOW.  Being ugly sucks.  Pickles don’t.  HAHAH Joke!  Ok, so my sissy was NOT feeling well, so she ordered the highly reccommended matzah ball soup.  UNREAL.  The ball was the size of my head and I am NOT kidding.  I have photo proof:

Her reaction was PRICELESS!

In typical Sara fashion 😉

Anyway, the table MINUS me ordered chopped liver for an app.  NO WAY.  That stuff isn’t even going to plague my camera.  Not even a pic.  That stuff looks disgusto (my made up word), but telling from the mmmms and yummms from mom, dad and sissy disagree.  I stuck with these DELISH onion rolls and of course…PICKLES (and the necessary deli-style Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry- I LOOOOOVE me some Dr. Brown’s but it ALWAYS tastes better at the deli)!

SOOOOO weird, while I was googling images of Dr Browns, the one I picked actually came from a review of the Famous 4th Street Deli!

Moving on, I was told that the sandwiches are REDICULOUSLY big.  I made a dumb joke about it (as I am SO good at doing) and “stretched my mouth” to prepare while awaiting my turkey sandwich.  I ordered it with Russian dressing on the side to get into the “Jewish deli spirit” 🙂

I am SUCH a dork (but so good at it, no?)

Anyway, we all had some great laughs while waiting for our meals, even though I’m pretty sure everyone was almost full by the time it came!

Tada! By the way, 1/2 of the meat had to be removed in order to fit it into my (stretched) mouth

Here is the birthday boy’s meal (my dad).  It was ABSURD.  It was brisket with gravy OVER potato pancakes with kasha (bulgar wheat grain) and bowties on the side AND a side salal. Are you for real!?!?  The meal would hardly even fit into my camera lense! We were all joking that I needed to put it in “landscape” mode.  And what a landscape it was:

But, birthday boy was pleased (especially becuase he made a few meals with it and won’t have to cook for…at least a day?)

Happy birthday Dad! Love you!

I managed to make it halfway thru my sandwich, which is impressive for me 😉  Sissy Sara was smart and had her reuben special wrapped first thing, as she knew the soup would be enough to feed a small country fill her (and she was sick-hope you are feeling better, by the way, even tho you don’t read this!).  My mom got a reuben as well, which I did not get a picture of, but here…

Except on regular rye, not marble, and like 5 times that size.  Before leaving, we snapped a family photo, which everyone was just pleased about…not.  My family hates pics.  How did I end up with them?!?

Anyway, bottom line, GO TO THIS DELI!  It was a fabu evening- food, family and fun (and let me tell you- those words don’t always go together so well hehe kidding).  It was great!  Hope you enjoyed my recap!

Toodles!

Uses for a treadmill and the lil’ girl grows up

OK, so yesterday I had an OK 4-miler.  I only say ok, becuase I just wasn’t really feeling it and was VERY excited to finish my run (and possibly go out to dinner ?!?!).  I can usually gage how “good I feel” during a run based on how fast I want it to END (aka reach my goal). So anyway, last night was a bit difficult, and therefore when I slammed the STOP button at 4.0 miles, I limply fell onto my treadmill and layed there for…too long

…but while coming up with AMAZING uses for my treadmill.  Holy stretches!

OK, first thing’s first, gotta stretch those hammies!

Leg up on the "grip for your life bar" lol

Then, move on to your calves with alternate calf presses against the TM belt!

And finish with the traditional paschimottanasana (the title of the Yoga pose) or forward fold.  Think this: (from yogajournal.com my on-line yoga Bible!)

Paschimottanasa_248

Anyway, I LOVE using the treadmill belt to grab on to to get a better stretch!  Since my Yoga-ing has truly paid off, I am able to raech far beyond my toes but have nothing to grab onto beyond my feet, so I use the treadmill like such:

Obviously this stretch occurs normally with BOTH hands on each side of my feet 😉

Anyway, considering we got this treadmill for FREE, it has totally paid off!  Story behind that is the company that we bought the TM from shipped it to us and whoever was in charge of delivery stupidly decided to leave the damn trillion pound thing ON OUR STEPS!  Guys, we live in the Center of PHILADELPHIA!  You can’t leave a stinkin treadmill in a box on someone’s front steps. Duh.  Well, the company agreed with me and actually COMPED us the treadmill! Sweet.  Husband and his Brother, though were not to thrilled about “finishing the delivery of the TM” especially given that it is placed on the second floor of our home with NARROW steps.  Oh well.  All’s well that ends well, right?  And I think it is an absolute necessity for me, as I do belong to a gym, but because of my crazy shenanagans post-workout (above) and during workout (I belt out my playlist BIG time, like so big time that I have had neighbors comment.  Awesome).  Anyway, the gym I belong to in Philadelphia is called the Sporting Club at the Bellevue. It is very fancy shmancy!  It has a lot of great features.  My favorites are the fitness floor which has soooo many cardio machines it is INSANE!  And all of the cardio machines have personal TVs, but even better, really cool programs where you can race the person next to you, etc.  It’s a shame that I am definitely a gym loner. I’m not into exercizing with people.  If I need motivation for a race or something, like I am GOING to do with Lins at some point, then it’s great but day-to-day, I use it as “me time.”  Anyway the other cool thing is that if you look up from the fitness floor, you can observe what’s going on at the indoor track they have which is one level up, or look down to the basketball courts, one level down.  The bball court is SO great that apparently the NBA uses it when teams come into town to get their butts beaten by the Sixers practice.  I feel like my description of the gym was confusing becuase the place is kinda confusing itself.  You can see a map of the entire 93,000 square foot craziness here.

Here I am in all of my gym glory!

On the "fitness floor"

Another GREAT feature of my gym is the Yoga room. It actually looks and feels like a REAL yoga studio!  It is beautiful and fun to practice in!  My favorite Yoga instructor at “the Club” is Jessica (ironically hehe).  She is SUCH a wonderful person and has such a great energy and sequences well.  My only critique to her would be to throw in some more vinyasas!  hehee  I throw them in myself sometimes but feel rude, like I am messing with her sequence.  Anyway, Jessica is great.

I also have my eye on the pilates room.  There are like a hundred reformer machines in there, but they kinda look like torture devices.

I would also like to try for REAL the aqua fitness classes.  These look so cool and I hear they are great for the muscles and fun too!  I am definitely going to try one out within the next week- HOLD ME TO IT!  I will recap when I do!  The pool there is awesome but even better are the steam room, sauna and my favorite…the HUGE hot tub!  wootwoot!  Anyway, enough about that.  Some people ask me where I go to work out, so that’s the answer. If you are ever in Philly check it out! I can even hook it up with a guest pass 😉

OK, well that is it for now, funny that I am muching on

(surprise surprise, right) while finishing this post up.  Guilty as charged, but yummy as heck!  Funny that on the way to work, I was jonesin’ for some so I bought a “big bag” but when I ripped those babies out at snack time and got a glimpse at the cal count, I put those right back in my bag.  It’s fun size Fritos only for me!

And as I am finishing this post, I am realizing that I didn’t mention how the “lil girl is growing up.”  Basically, I have been suffering from some SERIOUS left shoulder pain.  It is AWFUL.  After a month of pain, I finally called my GP who told me I need an orthopedist/sports medicine DR, as I told her about some of my other sports-related injury/issues.  Aside from the shoulder issue (which I fear is burcitis) I have awful shin splints at time that are due to my one leg being WAY longer than the other.  I know, cute.  Anyway, I am not going to go to a “big girl” doctor to get these issues resolved 🙂  I am going to the famous 3Bs (Booth Bartolozzi and Balderston Penn Orthopedics ) next Wednesday and will let you know how it goes!

OK, for now, Toodles!
