That title is an homage to this race’s “shirt phrase”
Anywhooo, let’s get to the recap!!!! Â In one word, the race was AMAZING! Â I loved it! Â It was a fantastic experience. Â I felt great and finished strong. Â Sorry to toot my own horn, but I’m happy with it!
Yea, this morning I woke up NOT excited to run. Â I felt stiff and tired! Â But that all changed once the race began. Â I felt so great today! Â You know how some days, you’re not feeling it, I was glad today was not one of those days.
So, I think I did a few good things…
1.  I used almost every hydrant (they acted as sprinklers) from mile 2 on.  It helped immensely with the heat.  I was truly “cool” 🙂
2. Â I did not eat prior to the race as my stomach is my “achilles heel” and can cause me the most problems. Â BUT I did drink almost an entire G2 (Grape of course-yumm). Â I did not need water until about mile 4, drank a few sips of Gatorade around mile 6, had a life saver around mile 8 (that turned out to be a true “life saver” as it gave me a little burst of energy when I needed it and served as a mind distractor when I was concerned my toe nail was falling off-it actually was not, it was just chafing badly, and my hip hurt a bit)
3.  I brought my cell phone- I was able to text my Mom mid-way who was concerned about me running in the heat…oh Mom 😉  But I loved having i.  The belt held it well and only bounced a little bit but was ok when I rotated it to be above my behind
So, I finished strong and then made my way back to meet my mom.  She parked at FDR park so the walking resumed 🙂  So, all in all a WONDERFUL experience!
Here are the “official results...”
