Today was a day that changed history, the face of our nation and the state of innocence that we once were accustomed to.

Today we remember those who passed, whose lives were taken from us all too quickly, and we mourn the losses for all who were affected.  We shoulder the burden of grief and hope that each year it will become easier, not to forget, but to live on with the memories and the strength to move forward.

This year, 9/11 is different to me, as I usually recognize this day while in the company of my current class of students.  We always read this book:

September 12th: We Knew Everything Would Be All Right

I like how it focuses on honoring memories by moving forward and living our own lives to the fullest.  It is very easy to relay this message with a crew of students poised with curiosity and a new innocence perched before you.  As it falls on a weekend this year however, the notion is different.
