Fashion this Fall: What I am seeing

Listen, I’m  no Bruno…

BUT, I can certainly give my opinion regarding “Whasssup” and what is “ischt don’t think so” for this year’s Fall Fasions.  All I needed was a quick trip through Old Navy to narrow down the top FIVE must haves for this Fall…

1.  Corduroy

OF ALL TYPES!

Friends, your favorite fall/winter fabric is now not only reserved for pants (and Mr. Rodger’s button down sweaters) but also SKIRTS, SHIRTS and DRESSES!  Long live corduroy!

2.  Button down shirts

For this trend, it seems the BIGGER the BETTER!  Yay for me and all those chicas who like to throw on some leggings and go!  The “boyfriend” shirt/pants/whatever trend is clearly what’s “in.”

3.  COWBOY BOOTS!

Good news for this trend too, Ladies:  ALL sizes go!  Short booties, knee high and even thigh high are a GO!  Try Old Navy for some cheap versions that in my opinion, are just as good!

4.  FLANNEL!

Making a comeback from last year, this trend seems to be going hard and heavy this year!  I forgot to snag a picture, but stole one  from cute LP’s site 🙂  Thanks girl!

5.  BELTED SWEATER JACKETS

Again returning from last year, these oversized sweaters are soooo comfy, warm and (again) perfect for legging-wearers OR to throw on over top.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my quick “fall fashion finds” and I would LOVE to hear from you…what are YOU seeing this trend-wise this fall!?!?

When You are NOT a Morning Person and Just Don’t Have Time

So I have been preparing this post for a while.  I wanted to address two things as I return to full-time work this month and summer comes to a close.  Here are the two things:

1.  I am NOT a morning person, so my runs/any exercise must be performed AFTER work

2.  When I just don’t’ have a lot of time (due to my crazy schedule) but would like to continue my life as is…

OK, so here goes…

I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON.  “MOST” runners complete their runs before sunrise, and frankly before my eyes have thought to open.  I simply hate the morning and kinda always have.  BUT, I DID sign up for the Philadelphia Half Marathon in November, so I need my mileage.  Yesterday was a perfect example of how I altered my workout to fit my physical and mental needs.  I KNEW that I needed mileage.  I had been traveling to Oregon (post coming soon) and needed to get back into my routine.  Well, put it this way: I WAS TIRED and not feeling it after work.  SO, I BARTERED WITH MYSELF; I promised myself that if I committed to 5 miles, I would take it easy on speed, and with that I was able to do my mileage (albeit a bit slower than usual) while keeping myself and body happy.

This treadmill kicked my bum...and won 😉

Right, so the point is: ALTER YOUR WORKOUT.  If IT doesn’t work, YOU won’t work!

So needless to say, I was STARVING when I got home.  This brings me to my next topic:  TIME SAVERS…

I tend to keep healthy QUICK options on hand for dinner.  For instance, last night I made Buitoni whole wheat tortelini (in the refrigerated section) and Perdue baked chicken cutlets.  I also made a cucumber salad consisting of cucumbers and Whole Foods brand balsamic dressing.

For a week-night meal, it was YUM!  Now, what do I do when I decide to invite a bunch of people over for a BBQ but I just don’t have a ton of time!??! It is ALL in the planning.  See for yourself.  First, I always try to plan out cooking times on my white board hanging in the kitchen.  I can also write little notes to myself, as I tend to be forgetful at times 🙂

PS: Dress meant dress fries with Old Bay- yum!

UPDATE:  I have no idea where I was going with the above post, but I just published it anyway 😉 Sorry!

QUESTION:  How do YOU prepare for company?  (Especially when you don’t have time)
