Ha how’s THAT for a title?! Let me explain. Part is a recipe and part an opinion 😉 Let me start with the rats 🙂 So, today, the “big news story” in Philly was that there were rats “seen” in a nearby popular cafe, Green Eggs. It happens to share a building with one of my favorite places; The Nest. Here is what I think: If you live in a big city, you will live among rats. Period, end of story. Not that it is fun to see rats in your favorite eatery or appetizing to think about, but it is a truth you live with when living a city life. So here is what I am saying: the rats were ALWAYS there. Social Media was NOT. Nowadays, ANYTHING that happens immediately gets reported to Twitter (as in this case), Facebook, or YouTube (again as in this case). And I guess I just wonder, if that is all good. I mean, those rats were LONG there prior to the EXTREME use of social media. It is just another situation where I am wondering if the use of these social media outlets exacerbates a situation. I last alluded to this conundrum when discussing the harsh opinions expressed by people, those especially unsolicited, regarding the “rights and wrongs” of mommyhood. Ok, so that’s what I think. Moving on to tastier topics 😉
I made this recipe tonight: Italian Crescent Pie. It was the LEAST italian thing I’ve made, but very tasty if you need a quick, easy and tasty meal. You will need:
one can crescent rolls (Pillsbury)
one lb ground meat (I used chicken because I had it on hand)
shredded cheese (I used mozzarella)
Line a pie dish with the crescent rolls like the spokes of a wheel. The narrow part will lay on the outer shell of the pie. You will “close it up later.” Brown your meat. Add sauce (about a cup?) until all meat is “covered in sauce.” You see, it is really quite scientific 😉 Sprinkle some (1/4 cup?) cheese on the “pie crust.” Pour the meat mixture on top. Stretch the crescents back over the pie and “close.” Sprinkle some (1/2 cup?) more cheese on top. Sprinkle a pinch (1 tsp?) italian seasoning on top. Back at 375 for about 17 minutes. It was delish! Served with a salad, this is a quick and easy meal!
FINALLY, here is a sneak peak at some professional pictures my lovely friend took of Zach for his one year pictures. HERE is her website.
