Last year I did a little challenge I titled “Run-a-day-cember” that entailed running (and blogging) each day of December. I failed on the latter, but did manage to run every. single. day. in December 2012. When the month was over, I had an awesome feeling of accomplishment and am toying with the idea of doing it again. I was just reading an article in the most recent Runner’s World about the “streak” as some call it. My “streak” last year had the following rules; run a minimum of one mile a day each day for the month of December. In the end I ran 131 miles! Think of it like this: even if you only one mile a day, that is 31 miles! Or, if you run two a day, that is 62! Woah! So what do you think? Do you want to join me?! Here is all you need to complete Run-a-day-cember (or any running streak):
1. Motivation
2. Good gear- running so much can lead to injury if you do not wear proper gear and fitting shoes. This is super important.
My compression socks basically save my legs from running harm.
3. Listen to your body- the streak isn’t worth hurting yourself over. If your body is telling you not to run, don’t. Or just take a mile- long jaunt; any distance a mile or over counts!
4. Good scenery
5. Good tunes or TV shows to catch up on
6. To just put one foot in front of the other
7. A little bit of crazy
8. A whole lot of heart
So, I started MY Run-a-day-cember this morning with a gorgeous run over the Ben Franklin Bridge.
The weather was insaaaanely nice and the scenery phenomenal.
I LOVE running through my city and I love running over the water into NJ.
This was seriously one of my top ten favorite runs EVER. I felt amazing. The 6 miles flew by. Anyway, let me know if you will be joining me for Run-a-day-cember! We can cheer each other on!
I was worried about how my numbers were going to look at the end of this month. (November, with all of its activites, was not a good month for numbers that is for sure) Sounds like a great way to stay on track. I am in!
Way to get back on track! Let me know how you are doing! We can cheer each other on!
ha! Wasn’t trying to bombard you with comments. I didn’t think the first one ever went through…sorry! 🙂
Sounds like a great way to make sure December is a good month for running. I am totally in (fingers crossed)!
YESSS!!!! So glad you are joining me!
I’m in too! I had to think if I ran yesterday and I did, this whole it is now December is throwing me for a loop!
You go girl! Keep me posted!
